For some unique island handicrafts, visit the Care-Co Workshop (Mon–Fri 8am–3pm, Sat 8am–noon) at Camp du Roi at the back of town. It is a charity where coconut craft and jewellery items are made by disabled people. An apiary also produces the clear and distinctly flavoured Rodriguan honey, which has consistently won international awards.
School visit
At Camp du Roi, next to the Care-Co Workshop, is the Gonzague Pierre-Louis Special Learning Centre (Mon–Fri 8am–2pm), a school for sight- and hearing-impaired children. Pupils are pleased to receive visitors and the teachers are happy to give you a tour.
